Payment Plan Options

While the Tax Office is bound by law to follow the rules and guidelines set out in the Texas Property Tax Code, we are committed to working with our taxpayers to offer payment arrangement solutions that allow for the payment of taxes over time within the guidelines of the Texas Property Tax Code. If you are uncertain which option may be best for your circumstance, please contact our Customer Care Center at (214) 653-7811 for more information on the options below.

We accept multiple on-line payment methods, including eChecks, (no additional fee), and credit or debit cards (Chase bank convenience fees apply). Visit www.dallascounty.org/tax, and select “Pay a Property Tax Bill”.

  • Partial Payments
If you are unable to pay the total amount of your taxes due in full, the Dallas County Tax Office accepts partial payments in any amount, at any time. The partial payment will be applied to the balance due and only the remaining amount will accrue penalty and interest. You may make partial payments on-line at www.dallascounty.org/tax, by selecting “Pay a Property Tax Bill”. Partial payments for delinquent taxes will be applied to the oldest tax year due first.
  • Over-65/Disabled/Disabled Veteran Installment Plan
Qualified homeowners with an Over-65, Disabled or Disabled Veteran exemption may pay their property taxes in four equal payments with no penalty and interest if paid by the due date for that installment as long as they pay the first installment due by January 31st. Please email our Installment Specialist at Special.Inventory@dallascounty.org or contact our Customer Care Center at (214) 653-7811 for more information.
  • Homestead Payment Agreement
Qualified homeowners may be eligible to enroll in a Homestead Payment Agreement for up to 12 months once their taxes have become delinquent on February 1st. This payment agreement is an option for properties with a homestead exemption. Please contact our Customer Care Center at (214) 653-7811 for more information. If you would like to apply or inquire about your homestead exemption, please contact your appraisal district.
  • Informal Payment Plans
Property Tax statements are mailed in October of each year, and taxes are due upon receipt, and delinquent if paid after January 31st. State law requires that penalty and interest be charged after the January 31st delinquency date. However, if homeowners are unable to pay the full amount due, the Tax Office accepts partial payments in any amount, at any time. The partial payment will reduce the balance due, and only the remaining amount will accrue penalty and interest. To make a payment online, please visit our homepage at www.dallascounty.org/tax and select “Pay a Property Tax Bill.
  • Non-Homestead Payment Agreement
Non-Homestead Payment Agreements are signed agreements with the delinquent law firm and are offered for qualifying delinquent Commercial properties, Business Personal Property accounts, and Residential properties that do not have exemptions that qualify them for other payment plans, such as rental properties. Please contact our Customer Care Center at (214) 653-7811 for more information.
  • Deferral
Taxpayers that have a Homestead and Over 65 (or Disabled or 100% Veteran) exemption, have an additional option to file a “Deferral” with their Appraisal District. Filing a deferral will protect the property for any legal action, and will also reduce the rate of penalty and interest accrual on delinquent taxes as well as reduce collection fees. Taxes will continue to accrue on the property and must be paid in full no later than 180 days after the sale of the property or the death of the owner. Please contact your appraisal district for more information on how to apply for a deferral.
