The county clerk is the ex officio (or non-voting) member of the commissioner’s court. The commissioner’s court serves as the executive body of county government and responsible for county operations. This includes setting the county tax rate, setting the county budget, maintaining unincorporated areas of the county, managing and maintaining county facilities. The responsibilities of the county clerk are:

  • Record and maintain all official actions of the commissioners court. Producing and publishing the commissioner’s court meeting agenda.
  • Publishing notice of all public meetings for the county as well as all public entities in Dallas County, including municipal government, school districts.
  • Manage agenda management system and live video stream of court meetings.
  • Record the votes taken by the court members of agenda items.
  • Register public speakers.
  • Produce all formal orders resulting from commissioner’s court meetings.
  • Maintain all contracts, records and formal actions taken by the court.
