What’s New at the County Clerk's Probate Courts Division:
The Dallas County Clerk is now offering Electronic Certified Official Public Record (OPR) Documents for purchase on the Clerk's website. Each electronic certified document uses advanced encrypted features to produce a tamper proof electronic certified document that will include a unique County Clerk digital signature.
Electronic certified documents can be purchased online anytime, anywhere, 24-hours a day. It is fast, easy and convenient. Electronic certified documents are more secure and environmentally friendly in comparison to paper certified documents.

The county clerk is responsible for maintaining the records of the probate courts. Dallas County has three (3) county probate courts which hears all cases regarding wills, estates and guardianships. The probate courts also hear cases related to mental health and mental health assessments. Using our automated case management system, Odyssey, the probate division processes approximately 5200 cases each year. Probate court records have a permanent retention.
The probate courts estate matters can range from small estates and can exceed up to multi-millions of dollars, based on the wealth of the decedent.
The county clerk holds in trust, special fund accounts for incapacitated persons in access of ten million dollars.
The county clerk also receives Wills that are held on deposit until the death of the testator (one who has made a legal will before death).
