Wireless Communications is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and oversight of all County radio frequency infrastructure. Services include: issue and inventory of portable and mobile police radios, manage the make/ready process for all County vehicles that have auxiliary equipment installed (ie: light bars, sirens, cages, consoles, push bumpers, graphics). This program oversees 6,000 public safety radios and 8 public safety radio tower sites.

The Wireless Communications Program primarily supports essential public safety departments: 

  • Sheriff’s Department
  • Constable Precincts
  • Emergency Management Office
  • Juvenile Department
  • Health and Human Services Department
  • Dallas County Jail

The Wireless Communications Program works in collaboration with a host of municipalities and local government agencies such as:

  • Homeland Security and Emergency Management
  • City of Dallas
  • City of Garland
  • City of Grand Prairie
  • City of Desoto
  • City of Duncanville
  • City of Irving
  • City of Coppell
  • City of Carrollton
