Veterans with qualifying service-connected disabilities are eligible for property tax exemptions. Refer to the Eligibility Requirements for other factors that may entitle the veteran to a larger exemption. Surviving spouses and minor children of a person who dies on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible for an exemption of the first $5,000 on the appraised value of their property.

We strongly advise applicants to consult with the County Veterans Services Office prior to submitting all documents to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Assistance is available to all who are shut-in and require help in completing applications and acquiring supporting documents. This may help to reduce delays in receiving benefits or preventing the denial of benefits.
