Intercepted Diversion Program

Intercepted is a nine month pre-trial diversion program for adults charged with a misdemeanor Assault case.
Goals:
Our goal is to provide tools that include mental health diagnosis and treatment, education, job placement, batterer’s intervention counseling, and mentorship. With these resources, Intercepted will provide an opportunity for an offender who is headed in the wrong direction to change both their attitude and perspective on life.
Qualification:
Prior to being accepted into the program, each defendant must attend a screening and meet the following criteria:
- Must be under the age of 25 Have an unadjudicated (pre-plea) misdemeanor assault charge
- Must not have any prior convictions for assault or any violent charges in their history, i.e. robbery, harassment, murder, etc.
- Must not have any prior felony convictions, pending charges, or currently on probation
- Must want to make a change in their life
Procedures/Scope of Treatment:
Phase 1 Evaluation: The initial phase begins with a mental health evaluation, drug screening, and literary testing.
Phase 2 Treatment: Treatment may consist of mental health treatment, domestic batterer’s treatment, anger management treatment, substance abuse treatment and/or GED certification.
Phase 3 Aftercare: Upon beginning aftercare, each candidate will be assigned a mentor who will help the candidate find job placement and build new daily living skills.
* Upon completion of all three phases, the candidate will graduate and receive a dismissal of the pending charges.
8 Canons of the Intercepted Diversion Program
- ON TIME IS LATE - Always arrive 5 minutes early. Tardiness will not be accepted and will result in sanctions.
- DRESS FOR SUCCESS - When you look good, you feel good; when you feel good you do good. Arrive to court dressed for success, no jeans, shorts, tee shirts or casual clothing.
- DRUGS ARE FOR LOSERS - If you’re destined for greatness you will need a clear sober head. Anyone who tests positive for any illegal substance will be sanctioned.
- HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY - Plain and simple tell the truth and be a man/woman of your word.
- LIFE IS HARD WORK - The real world requires you to have a job. It’s your duty to take care of you and no one else’s. All participates must have a full-time job prior to graduation.
- SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SUCCESS - Everyone needs someone to hold them accountable. Check in weekly with your mentor, failure to do so will result in sanctions.
- DO THE CRIME; PAY THE TIME - Any participant who is involved with any criminal activity while on the program with be sentenced to jail time and terminated from the program.
- SAY NO TO EXCUSES - Excuses are tools used by the incompetent and weak minded. Get your work done and leave the excuses at home.
