Prosecutor's Perspective: Vehicular Crimes Unit

Prosecutor's Perspective: Vehicular Crimes Unit

Meet one of the Dallas County District Attorney’s newest specialized units: the Vehicular Crimes Unit (VCU).

Formed in 2022, this team tackles some of the most devastating offenses on our roads — from intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault to fatal hit-and-runs, street racing, and reckless driving.

In this video, you’ll hear directly from the prosecutors who handle these complex cases every day. Their work helps ensure that impaired and dangerous drivers are held accountable, and that victims and families receive the justice they deserve. As we enter the holiday season, we’re reminding everyone: impaired driving is not an accident — it’s a choice.

Plan ahead, use a rideshare, call a friend, and help keep Dallas County safe.
