Kevin Brooks

Paul E. Hamilton serves as Chief Administrator/First Assistant, reporting directly to the elected District Attorney, and is responsible for the entire operations of the District Attorney’s Office. Paul brings a unique and broad professional and practice experience to the position having served in several key positions in both the public and private sectors.

Paul was born and raised in the Dallas area. He attended public schools in the Garland Independent School District. Paul earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas in Personnel Management & Organizational Behavior, a Master of Science from Amberton University in Human Relations & Business, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He is licensed by full examinations to practice law in both the State of Texas and the State of Oklahoma.

Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office under the current administration, Paul previously served as an Assistant District Attorney under two previous administrations, gaining valuable and practical experience in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions. Paul has spent the majority of his legal career in the private sector in the practice areas of Insurance Defense, Products Liability, Oil & Gas, Commercial and Employment Law. During this period, he managed a robust practice group responsible for coordinating and strategizing the litigation activities of several national and multinational corporate entities. He has tried numerous cases both on the Civil as well as the Criminal side of the litigation docket. He is a certified Mediator, and has served as an Adjunct Instructor in Business Law and Paralegal Studies.

Immediately prior to his most recent appointment as an Assistant District Attorney, Paul served as Chief Deputy Tax Assessor of Dallas County, Texas, as well as an Alternate Municipal Judge in the City of Grand Prairie.
