The Organized Crime Division of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office primarily prosecutes crimes involving drug manufacturing & trafficking, illegal gambling and money laundering. The division employs seven prosecutors and three investigators and works closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to prevent and prosecute these crimes and to advocate for victims. Nearly 85% of the Organized Crime Division’s resources are dedicated to the prosecution of drug related offenses. The high volume of cases involving illegal drug activity necessitates the use of “specialty courts”. These courts focus exclusively on litigating drug related crimes. As a result, the attorneys assigned to this division carry a high case load and maintain an intense trial schedule.
