Understanding mental health and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) means knowing how they affect people's lives. Mental health focuses on our emotions, how we feel and think. SUD involves the misuse or dependence on substances such as drugs or alcohol. This may lead to significant impairment in daily functioning and overall health. People with SUD are also often dealing with mental health struggles. It is important for these individuals to have someone to turn to and get the help they need to recover and take back their lives.
