We are excited to announce that we are working on a new Open Space Plan!
The last Dallas County Open Space Plan was completed in 1991, and we decided it’s time for a few updates! This plan is anticipated to be finished around late-2024.
This new plan will create a vision and prioritize Parks & Open Space projects for the next 10 years. It will assess, demand, natural and cultural resources, recreational opportunities, operations, access, connectivity, and equity across the entire program. The plan will also address each preserve individually, considering its unique assets, resources, challenges, and the needs of their surrounding communities. Public feedback will be gathered through surveys and community meetings and incorporated into the plan. Your parks and preserves are better with your input!
Thank you to all that participated in our community input opportunities over the last 12 months, which included Preserve Intercept Surveys, a Communitywide Survey, and Public Meetings (held September 2023 and April 2024). If you were not able to attend the April 2024 public meetings, you can still provide your input on proposed preserve projects through an online survey. The survey is live through May 10, 2024.
