Lee F. Jackson Spring Creek Forest Preserve
Preserve Overview:
Lee F. Jackson Spring Creek Forest Preserve is a 92.4-acre, heavily wooded preserve located in Garland along Spring Creek and across the street from Spring Creek Park Preserve. LFJ Spring Creek Forest Preserve is maintained by our management partner the City of Garland in partnership with the Preservation Society for Spring Creek Forest. It offers two entry points: one for pedestrians long Garland Avenue and the other for vehicles along Holford Road.

Preserve Features:
This preserve features a one-mile paved trail as well as soft-surface trails along Spring Creek. In February of 2024, the preserve was designated as a Community Forest by the Old Growth Forest Network, one of only two in Texas. Many of the trees range from 100-300 years old. There is also a monarch butterfly waystation that is maintained by Keep Garland Beautiful.

The Preservation Society for Spring Creek Forest helps support the Preserve and offers a large number of educational and volunteer programs. A description of and schedule for their many activities can be found at the Preservation Society's events webpage.
Know Before You Go:
Holford Road may be closed during times of flooding or high water on Spring Creek.
Preserve History:
The Preserve was established in 1988. In 2002 it was renamed to honor the contributions of Lee F. Jackson who served as Dallas County Judge from 1987-2002. During his time as County Judge, he increased the County's Parks and Open Space system increased from about 700 acres to almost 3000 acres.
