Rowlett Creek Preserve
Garland, Texas, 97 Acres
Entrances: | 4200 Centerville Road |
Mapsco: | 19A, Section "V" |
Preserve Features
This 97-acre tract of meadows and woods lies between a channelized segment of Rowlett Creek and the original creek bed. Its terrain is basically flat, making it suitable for leisurely hiking and nature study. Rowlett Creek provides fishing opportunities, and in April, thousands of Sand Bass spawn in the creek as they make their way to Lake Ray Hubbard. The Preserve, courtesy of the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association (DORBA), also offers off-road bicyclists fifteen miles of bike paths.
Preserve Amenities
Besides the elaborate and often-challenging system of bike paths that DORBA has created, the Preserve also features the following amenities that the City of Garland has installed and constructed: concrete parking, a picnic pavilion, multiple picnic tables and grills, and a portable toilet facility.
Maintenance
Rowlett Creek Preserve is maintained by the City of Garland. To report maintenance issues, please call the Garland Parks and Recreation Department at (972) 205-3589.
Restricted Uses
Hunting and the use of alcohol, motorized vehicles, horses, fireworks, or weapons are not permitted within the Preserve.
